I couldn't even see it listed!

On their website they push Pegasus and the eye-watering expensive Nike Air Zoom Tempo NEXT% for fast training shoes

chunky - is there a reason it needs to be Nike ? Their range, apart from the top end racing shoes, is pretty poor at the moment. Look online at numerous reviews for best daily trainer 2021, and you'll be lucky to find many Nike's mentioned. Lots of great reviews for various NB, Hoka, Saucony, etc models.

Gus, only in so much that I really like the Next% so would like a training shoe that’s the same look and feel. What would you recommend?

What do you train in day-2-day now CW?

I always thought the Hoka Clifton had a similar feel to the 4% from a height and mushiness perspective. I quite like my Saucony Speed but they are nothing like the next%. I’ve got the Hoka rocketX too, also a (nice) thing of their own but again totally dissimilar.

I find myself going back to my old and completely battered 4% or ZF when I want a nice ride tbh. With 600+ miles on each I’m on borrowed time with those now as both pairs are more shoe goo than original manufacture!!

I use Hoka Clifton 7s for long runs but they are big and clumpy, I have some Brooks Ravenna 7s, nice and light but minimal padding and my favourite are a pair of Nike Next% with 800 miles on them! These are what i'm looking to replace.

Well, maybe the next% isn’t such bad value for you if you get that many miles from them. Maybe just some more?

I do mainly trail running, so don't go through that many road shoes.

If I was looking to buy a carbon plated daily trainer, then would be looking at Saucony Endorphin Speed or Puma Deviate Nitro.

Windsor has the Speeds, so he could comment on them.

The whole of the Puma Nitro range is getting fantastic reviews and excellent value. The Deviate Nitro retails at 140 but Start Fitness has them reduced to 100 (if you don't mind grey) then a further 10% off all running shoes at the moment. Sounds like a worthwhile punt for £90 if the reviews sound like what you're looking for. Being the daily option then won't be as light as the Next%, but comparable with the Fly 3. The Fly 4 is due out very soon I think if you'd rather stick with Nike

It's funny how perceptions of shoe performance have changed over the last few years. Of the three pairs I've currently got in rotation I still think of the Clifton as a lightweight racer/trainer. I've done my last three urban orienteering races in them.
