I think you can do heel drops at any time really. Well, at least I do. For me it only takes a couple of days to clear things up. Hope it’s the same for you. |

I guess it depends a bit on your intended frequency and level of injury. I have previously done some plyometrics (hopping!) during easy runs when I wasn't going to make a full session of it. I'd probably suggest doing the heel drops after an easy run, that way you are warmed up and it's just a bit of extra loading on the relevant areas.

I'm back, had 160 messages to catch up with. I've been off the marathon training lark for three months after April but next week, I'm planning to start the next cycle for the Central German marathon from Leipzig to Halle on 8 October and then Athens in November. I doubt that either will be a PB attempt, Leipzig-Halle is only 10 weeks away, Athens is too hilly. June was too hot for running, failed to get to 100 miles and July will be a close call. I did more on the bike though. I'm still lurking on the thread a bit for motivation. I hope your training goes well. |

I find heel drops work quickly, but I have to be very careful I don’t do too many too soon or I get other issues and need to back off.

What's the injury news Baz - noticed that your streak of over a year ended at the weekend, and you've not ran since ? Nothing serious hopefully ?

Thanks for noticing gus. Hopefully no big deal. Shock horror I tripped and fell. First time for a few years. I gave both knees a bash and lost skin. My left knee took quite a knock. Right got better but the left didn’t. I was running to parkrun on Saturday and I just kind of felt it was at risk of something bad happening. It had been ok the week before but was getting quite nightly. I was down to run and volunteer when finished, so just did my volunteering and then walked home. I then decided just to rest it for a week or so It’s already feeling loads better. Still not right, but just needs some time. 386 days at an average of 8.2 miles per day was the final score. Was happy I beat the previous 364 record which was cruelly stopped by injury the day before a full year was achieved. |

Oh no, not another trip - how annoying !! Och well, at least you got over the 365 this time, and a proper run every day, none of this jog 0.5 mile streak-saver rubbish ![]() I look forward to see your runs popping up in my ![]() |

At least you're consistent Baz. A streak of that size is v impressive with that average mileage. A tapered parkrun could fly out from your legs this weekend.
