DT, the only reason it looks "commercial" is because that drama queen from Trail is making it so. I hope some of the more stalwart competitors among them give her the ignoring she deserves. Anyhow, I'm off. See you all later :-)

Meg, update for you, hot off the press: as you will have seen they're on their way again, I think Paul & C will prob. try and get over Great Shunner Fell and then maybe stop in Thwaite for the night for some sleep. I have delayed my plans, will try and intercept in Bowes. Did you see Lucie's pics? Paul looks in good shape.

Thanks I'm not a tracker addict so didn't know that. Haven't seen recent pics but there's been a few things on club page.

Likewise NE - have been doing a lot of F5 screen refreshing today at work! Carol and Paul both looking amazingly good on the pics I've seen. Looking forward to more @man on the ground@ updates :)

I quite like the evening montage things - it certainly shows the brutality of the race IMO. I did the Dales Trail event up on the Cam High Road in the summer and it was bleak even then - in fact I almost DNF'd there and I'd only taken about 18m to get there - I can only imagine how grim it must be in the dark up there in the winter.

It's incredibly mild out for mid-January (I've been out in shorts earlier and it was very comfortable). The PW will be a bog bath whatever the weather unless it's seriously cold. Conditions are actually not bad I'd say, which is not for one second taking anything away from any competitors. I wouldn't do the PW if you paid me, at any time of the year :-O

I have a hideous fear of deep bogs after going almost waist deep on a Three Peaks jaunt more than 20 years ago so I'm with yo Derby Tup ref PW!

I can imagine that bog after bog after bog and being perpetually soaking wet from the waist down at this time of year could be a little energy-sapping. Shiver.

Hi all, back home now after a truly brutal race. We had snow, blizzard, rain, knee deep mud and not a lot of sleep to contend with (ogee & bruceb are still battling with it). Boots started leaking after 30 miles so waterlogged feet & resulting blisters to put up with for more than half of the race.
Proper report/blog will follow once my brain has settled back to normality.
