I remember Barney the irritating purple bastard Dinosaur singing about it ‘No we never let the water run’ etc etc. Watched with my kids so after 70s but before noughties. Mid/Late 90s prob.
Thousands of parents probably let the water run for a fortnight after, just to be contrary such was the disdain for Barney….

Oh. I'd forgotten Barney. Happily. And now he's back in my mind.

There is a Barney sat on top of the wardrobe in daughter’s old room. Someone bought it for her when she was little and she was terrified of it. No idea why it’s still there, obviously couldn’t find anyone tomoffload it to.

I also have an earworm. Barney was introduced to our household by our lovely nanny, but where schmaltzy dinosaurs were concerned my children preferred The Land Before Time.

Having scrutinised my pension a bit more, I’ve noticed that my contribution from my salary is invested a month later, so as I get paid on about the 28th of the month, whatever I contribute doesn’t hit the pension until roughly the 25th of the following month. Sneaky, eh…? Member contributions deducted from pay must be paid into the pension no later than the 22nd day after the deduction. Sounds like your employer is running the risk of a fine from the Pensions regulator. My former employer's payroll people weren't actually aware of this, and a few polite emails from employees pointing out that they were routinely breaking the law got it fixed very quickly.
This is very interesting. I’ve been back and checked and it seems to range from the 23rd to 26th. I shall raise this with payroll, I think.

Money usually takes a few days to be invested into a pension doesn’t it, certainly has been the case when I’ve made individual payments across

It should take a few days - but recent Pensions Acts included regulations to stop employers holding on to the money for any length of time, and it routinely taking nearly a month is definitely outside of what the law allows. More likely to be someone in payroll not knowing the law, and just doing it at a convenient point in the month than deliberate company policy, of course.

Congrats Louise still young to retire but why not if you can 😜.
My mortgage has 10 years left after divorce would have been nearly gone now 3 years. I’m over paying so it’s shrinking.

I’m overpaying £1 per month, just the record of an overpayment is helpful for now as can’t afford to do much more.
In 10 years time I will still have a mortgage but my interest will have only just come off it’s fixed rate.
