I reckon I’ve 10-13 years left that I’ll be either able or bothered to do stuff. I’m 57 next birthday. So a lot to cram in. No mortgage, no kids, so bring it on. A year until my wife retires, I was gonnae chuck it then too, I’ve a wee PT job & tbh, if they piss me about in my last year I’ll be tempted to tell them to feck off. Gonnae try & hold out to my October cycling holiday in Sri Lanka though. |

I'm with you, HoD! Part time is a good option, if you can get it. I started that on a job share basis, but when my sharer retired it was my employers' problem as to whether they made me redundant or reshaped the role. I'm still there! |

We are in Shetland just now & the organising it took was a nightmare, booking everything from car parking, accommodation, a cabin on the boat, food on the boot, car hire, trips, race entries. Eventually it will be; I can’t be arsed😀 |

Ally C that’s a good point We are in Shetland just now & the organising it took was a nightmare, booking everything from car parking, accommodation, a cabin on the boat, food on the boot, car hire, trips, race entries. Eventually it will be; I can’t be arsed😀 at 82, mum is drifting towards the hassle of booking and organising being too much bother, even though she’s still up for holidays and weekends away. If someone else (that’ll be me then) is available to help book trains and to make sure insurance is up to date and check the checklist for things like cancel the milk etc… I think she’ll still be off exploring until she physically can’t |

My FiL is reluctantly starting to accept that he’ll not be jetting off to the USA any more now he’s in his 90s. Mainly because we have refused to take him. But he did just about get to Wales and back last month, with only a few adventures on the way.

I’ve said I’ll take mum to Singapore at some point soon, so that we can meet my brother who lives in Sydney. Aus is just a bit too far for her now, though she did go alone for Christmas ‘18. The Covid travel hiatus meant she lost the confidence in her ability to negotiate things like airports.
