There are now solutions for cavity walls that don't have the damp issues. There's also cladding. Roof insulation should be straight forward? - you can insulate the roof itself. Or as EST says, a blown insulation, similar to that used in cavity walls is a possibility: energysavingtrust.org.uk Obviously the more complex, the more expensive. |

There are solutions to all problems. Generally. Cost may be the issue of course. |

The last discussion I had was back at Christmas and in their view the solutions then still had issues. Has that changed in the last six months? Also the nature of my house means rid insulation is only possible if I install a new roof or rip down the ceilings and walls. My house isn’t a standard thing with roof space sadly. |

I cannot insulate my building further than I gave done: floor, double glazed windows when I had to replace the old ones and I had the whole slate roof off to insulate with a membrane when I first got here. Can't do any more: solid stone chapel. So please don't say I can clad the outside, I can't. However: My new built workshop is passive! No heating required. It is insulated to the nines top to bottom and the concrete foundations/slab have heat retaining properties... |

brilliant - absolutely brilliant. Yes defo shout about it. It is inspirational for us to hear ![]() jda perhaps a guide to energy efficient devices + their carbon emissions. What if you could more than cover the energy demands of the area due to decreased energy usage? |

You could clad the *inside* homebuilding.co.uk Nope! Solid stone needs to breathe or you get damp and mould issues. The stone is lime plastered on the inside and painted with clay paint. Walls are about half a metre thick and there are windows all around. I cannot insulate for technical reasons but also I am not allowed to change the building that dramatically! Nor would I want to. It is small enough as it is! |
