I’m due to renew at 7.5p in May, hoping the rates offered stay there in the meantime.

Anyone else been taking part in the Octopus "big dirty turn down" trials? We're scheduled for one tomorrow where we usually use 0.36kWh of electricity, so need to shave off 0.14kWh of consumption to hit their 40% reduction target. And bank a whole 5p of saving :-)

It was a bit easier overnight where they needed a turn down between 00:00 and 02:00 - I just deferred the car to start charging from 02:00 instead of from 00:30.

Chile's disappeared lagoon. A tale of drought, water privatisation and the villainous avocado.

There is a heat wave in Antarctica at the moment. It’s a whole 20degrees higher than average for the time of year.

I don't know about cooling but other unforeseen destabilising effects rf? Highly possible. The planet is a machine too complex for us to model. I was worried when I first read about this.

About This Thread

Hi
I've seen environment (whether emissions, power, climate change, access to countryside, whatever you think of as "environment") discussed in various threads: Politics (obviously), the Electric Car thread fetcheveryone.com/forum/electric-car-anyone-61481/ , run free's excellent "Competitive Running and Keeping The Environment Clean" fetcheveryone.com/forum/running-competitively-keeping-our-environment-clean-60907/ my own Greta Thunberg thread fetcheveryone.com/forum/greta-thunberg---jfk-for-the-climate-generation-61044/ etc. but I haven't seen a general one.

So here it is. For those interested in the science, the politics, the action for (and I'll state that for me, this is mostly pro-environment, anti-emissions, anti-pollution etc.) and the hope for the future of our planet.
