The Doctor K Cup

The seventh annual Doctor K Cup will take place on Saturday October 19th 2024
All you need is a GPS watch or app. On the day, RUN AT LEAST 5K WITHOUT LOOKING AT YOUR WATCH. The Fetch Benchmark system will pull out your fastest 5k from your run (so you can include it as part of your long run if you like). The person who gets closest to their prediction will be declared the winner (though the judges decision is final!).
It would be lovely if you could upload your 'K' pics to the gallery (make a K shape with your fingers) to help us remember Doctor K and all the Fetchies we have lost.
NB A GPS watch reporting 5.00km will do so from 4995 metres onwards, but you MUST run at least 5000 metres or more. To avoid disappointment add an extra 10 seconds on to the end of your run, just to make sure.
How to join in
Firstly, add the 2024 Doctor K Cup to your Fetch portfolio. All you need is a GPS watch or app. On the day, RUN AT LEAST 5K WITHOUT LOOKING AT YOUR WATCH. I couldn't make it to parkrun this morning, because I was giving The Boy and his friend a lift to their football match. But I volunteered to run the line, and have recorded that as my little tribute to Doctor K and his beloved Bolton (you have to zoom in a lot to see it): fetcheveryone.com/t-15457279 |

Sigh
I thought that too Maz, I think I'll wear my Fetch shirt to parkrun more often (esp. with a second shirt on order).

I also passed a 2K randomly on the ground during my parkrun. Solid effort, someone I passed after a lap tucked in behind me for the remainder of the run, so I couldn't slack off!

Wine Legs
No twins, and I ran 42 seconds faster than predicted (I think). It was weird running without looking at my watch (I wore it, but covered it)! The Jigs's were NO HELP WHATSOEVER.

Velociraptor
I predicted 23:30 for the last 5k of my half marathon today. Actual time 24:02. I wore a Garmin but had only a vague idea of the terrain. There was a K for Kells painted on the road every mile. |
