um
That was quick, and presumably easy? I'm impressed.
Is the intent to keep the tagging to a small-ish dedicated team, or to open up to all and sundry? Or yet to be decided? Or explained in the original blog that I should go back and re-read?

I don't know. You do get a bit of a feel for what the consequences of adding a tag are, so it helps, I think, to have tagged a couple of hundred threads (or more, I don't know) already.
Even then, a lot depends on the algorithm that Fetch uses. The Tag Team don't know or understand how that works, we're just trying to put building blocks in place for it to do its stuff!

I guess we're already on a bit of a "wisdom of the crowd" thing with a handful of us doing this. I sense that those who have been active here have at least a bit of a shared understanding of what we're doing. Dare I suggest that the more people who get involved, the greater the likelihood of unintended consequences, or hobby horses, or naughtydio, or ... or ... (that's just my own view!).
I don't think it's complete yet, mind. There are plenty of older event threads that are shown as tagged, but have only a year tag (eg "2016") and nothing else, so they're not particularly joined up. Maybe that doesn't matter (see my comment re the Search option above) but it feels like a work in progress still.
Also, we still have to look at Nelly's comment (which I misread when first reported). I think we have linked all threads about one or two bigger events which repeat (see eg Berlin Marathon or Abingdon Marathon). I have a mental note that I want to do the same with, eg Manchester and Brighton. But how far do you go, given there is a Search function? I can see the value in creating a "manchester" tag or a "brighton" tag, although I've generally been using counties as the base geographical "unit".
Lots of random thoughts there, I'd better stop.

I was going to say much the same as your first paragraph Synge, I feel it’s more likely to stay under control with a small team.

Synge - with regard to your 3rd paragraph, thank you. I've had another look, and there is already a "Brighton" tag, but it's not been applied to the 2021 marathon thread yet(?). It would be nice to have a "Manchester" tag, as that could also be applied to the HM, and the Great Manchester run etc; all of which are in the same area and IMO those threads are of more relevance than either the NY or Boston, Lincs marathon threads from 2020, for example.
Finally, thank you all for your efforts.
