CasB Many congratulations on achieving your MSc with Distinction :) Throughout my teaching career, I've remained a fervent advocate of lifelong learning, and your success only reinforces my belief.

I looked back three years in this thread to your original post and saw that, along with um and LindsD, I passed you a few ideas about composing a personal statement, so I appreciate you updating us with your news.

Very well done! :)

As per swittle*, well done, and thanks for sharing.
I hope you enjoyed the course & research, and found it challenging and stimulating.
And enjoy the accolades & initials!

*swittle must have a far better memory than me!

um: you provided valuable advice drawn from your own MBA studies about methods of funding and employer sponsored routes.

Finding out that a student has reached their goal - and enhanced their employability and self esteem has always been, for me, my most important reward. :)

Well done CasB, that's brilliant news, and I'm so glad you're looking at further research including publication, that's another way of 'paying it forward'.

Thank you all!

um, yes, I thoroughly enjoyed the course - it stretched my brain in all sorts of interesting ways, and has definitely improved how I do my job (it was a work-related topic).

swittle, completely agree about lifelong learning. I'm also sure that having a good chunk of work experience under my belt meant that I got far more out of the studying too, as I could relate ideas and theories to specific examples of practice and situations I'd encountered in my career.

CasB: encouraging those returning to learning to place the 'right' value on their range of experience and applied skills is a substantial driver in justifying their efforts and studies.

Just reporting in to say that I received the email today that the external examiners have approved the corrections I submitted, so once the postgrad exam board authorises it next month, I will be Dr Kath. :-)
