Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Staff off, children off. Staff with Covid and one child at home with Covid still being asked to send the other child to school even though they can't bring that child themselves... And who in their right mind would happily offer a lift? Interestingly, I was talking to one of my club providers today, her mother also works in a school. They have taken a different line, and are asking children to stay home if they have a family member in the same house with Covid.

Yes, drowning by degrees here too. I'm not even teaching this week, but I've still got too much on my plate and OH is starting to bleat about not spending time with him.

I'm seriously thinking about going off sick. I am exhausted and the slightest thing makes me want to cry

Mrs TR retired as an HLTA in a primary in the summer, but agreed to go in a couple of afternoons a week on a casual basis this term. She has been increasingly uncomfortable with this - both with regard to school management/planning and COVID - but final straw was finding out after an afternoon 1 to 1 with a pupil that that pupil's brother was at home awaiting a PCR result after a positive LFT. She's finished altogether now. We're just very grateful that we were in a position to make that decision.
(The head of school never replied to her email explaining that she would no longer be available to come in)

(((Linds))) - I think if you’re in this state you need to be off sick or you will end up sicker.

I am beginning to think you are right RB, thanks

That's shocking TR. Glad she's out of there.

Yep, sounds like you're on the verge of burnout LindsD (if you aren't there already). A few weeks off now could save you months later.

TR - sounds like she's well out of there.

There are enough educators on here that I thought it might be nice to have somewhere supportive to rant and problem solve.
