Not sure I have it covered Gobi as most my miles are all in the 7 m/m , think I need to vary that more? Did try and use my heart monitor recently, but annoyed me, again the good advice seems to be pointing at using it !?

If you have a minute if you could have a look at this weeks training Gobi and give your view i would be much grateful .

DJ - gobi's to above re. 'easier' running is a very good and important point. Most runners I train for the first time have their running paces covering a spread of about 90s a mile - which does not include the variety in order to gain maximum benefits and fully develop each part of your cardio-vascular system. Most of my easy runs will be 8+ mm and I regularly run at 9-10mm....

So who have we got doing Gosport? I'm a little lost between the 80 and 85 targetters but I think we could do with some header updating! Any other races coming up?

DJ - Impressive mileage increase. I see you've added in regular morning 3ish milers. A good, safe way to boost mileage to my mind - I can't see it being a bad thing - though I wonder what others think?
I suppose it is down to whether it adds an extra shower to the day or not!

Best of luck Loca. I ran my 10k PB on the seafront in a gale force storm last Boxing Day. First 5k into the headwind, and then turned back. The wind was so strong I was struggling to get my legs turning over quick enough on the way back :)

I'd be quite happy to add in a very easy 3 miler each day. Just keep the pace right down.

Wrong time of year for racing or changing training Gobi? Or something else entirely?

Wrong time of year for racing halfs, now is base with a few XC or 5kms thrown in.

You just can't stay in race trim all year and be fresh, I raced from January to October this year and it was too much. When I did the 100km events in November I use to have 2 cycles so would have 3/4 weeks of cutback/rest so I was ready for another campaign
