^ There is no visible swelling though which is a good sign, and maybe I'm overthinking / symptomising the feelings.

That's a real shame rhb. I find these things are usually ok quite quickly, hope you are the same!

Last time I did my ankle there was a loud crack as I went over on it, it was like a purple balloon for week or so and weak in some positions but I found I could run on it fine on the flat.

Hope it isn't really anything rhb and you're ok for Sunday.

Thanks both, 4 miles just now and it felt ok enough. Soreness is 1/10 and most importantly no sharp pains.

Thankfully no swelling / bruising. It defo feels delicate and I'd not like to roll it again in the immediate future which might affect my confidence/gait as a result. I'm probably over-thinking it, e.g. I'm also already a bit anxious about a gig at end of month as I might get a bug/covid from the crowd. Life has to be lived too though! |

RHB, i'm looking at my calendar in build up to Chicago and seeing red flags! I am particularly sensitive to the concept as after waiting 3 years for the NY mara last year (original place 2020), covid still managed to ruin it as I caught it some point before the marathon. I've got a work conference on 3rd Oct so in a room all day with 40 others. It usually then entails a night out as we have an overnight in Birmingham but i'm going to discretely disappear! Hope the ankle is OK, sounds like it is. |

Hope you're OK for Sunday rhb. Wanted to run the Cheshire Half this year but sold out. Had the same experience with NY last year as you DT19. Although I think (luckily!) I caught it at some point on the flight out. Was OK for the race but felt rotten the following week. I'm avoiding all F2F business & social interactions from mid Sept onwards. WFH is the way! |

Unsafe breadbin, yeah, I'll be working from home more than usual and avoiding as much interaction as I reasonably can. I wasn't feeling 'unwell' as such on race day just tired, however I knew something was wrong when 6.30mm in the first 5k was really hard work. I've never worked as hard for as long in a marathon. I wasn't there chasing a time as I'd run 2.43 in Chester 4 weeks earlier and was on hols with family, but still planned a low 2.50s. Came in 2.58 in the end which was looking unlikely until the downhill when you enter Central park cane as that just got me moving again. 48 hours later I was bedridden for days. |

That's one of the problems with marathon running - you can have the best build up in the world but there are so many things you can't control that can ruin the day.
