Now back in Scotland after 2 days on the booze with my daughter who just turned 18. Now looking ahead to my next marathon in the Spring. Hopefully with another 5 or 6lbs off I'll finally get under that 3hr mark.

What Spring marathon you aiming for Twopies? Sounds like you had a dramatic bit of misfortune at Berlin! Still a great run and sure you'll crack it next time. I'm considering Paris if I don't get in to London, which is v.unlikely. My first sub 3hr attempt after 3.07 at Edinburgh this year.

Having done 3h8m in last weeks Anglesey marathon (my 2nd marathon), I'm hoping that my 2nd attempt at the Snowdon marathon in just over 3 weeks time will see me getting closer to 3hrs - although only 8 runners (out of the near 1200 finishers) went sub 2h59m in last years Snowdon marathon!!

Set yourself the easy task then John!! Go for a flat one and you'll nail it. Twopies - enjoy putting your feet up. But don't drink too much if you want to be 6lbs lighter for next year!
I'm in my final week of full training before taper. Managed 245 miles in September, which is almost as high as I've done before. My schedule has been broadly as follows:
Mon: easy run (6-11m) or rest Tues: 8-10m, incl. 6-8m at MP - MP+15s Wed: long mid week (11-14m) Tues: 8-10m, incl. 6-8m at MP - MP+15s Thurs: easy short run (6-8m) Fri: easy short run or rest Sat: Long run (20-22m), some runs with MP at miles 14-18 Sun: easy run or rest
I've kept it to one rest day per week and have done between 50 and 62 mpw. Also one weights/core session in the gym.
I would prefer to get it up to 70mpw, but I've only had time to do about 10 weeks' training for this marathon, so haven't been able to get that high (worried about injury).
We'll see how I get on in 3.5 weeks! I feel pretty fast and fit, but think I'll be lacking a little bit of endurance for the final 3 or 4 miles

How long have you been doing that schedule for BB? You seem to have enough miles in there to do a sub 3 and have no fatigue problems.
I had similar mileage in the build up to my sub 3, I had the same length long run, just a different approach to the other runs, and no fatigue in the last few miles, although I eased off the last 3 because I knew I'd done it and didn't want to risk pushing it too much.

And I've just read your post properly and seen that you've done 10 weeks at it!
As long as you had a decent base behind you before you did specific marathon training you'll be fine.

It's a bit different - Tues/Wed/Thurs is quite intense and borderline in terms of 3 hardish days in a row. I've cut out intervals as apparently it's a bit of a sideshow for marathons. I've done about 8 weeks of it (or variants of it), and by race day it'll be 10 or so. Before that schedule I was doing 2 months of triathlon training - about the same amount of training per month (c.30 hours), but only 20-25mpw running. We'll find out how much good it has done me on race day!!
I think that's a good schedule, but would prefer to have done 16 weeks, with a good 40mpw base before that, and build up to 70mpw. That would get me a sub-3, I reckon, but I'd be too bored.

lol BB - I may be crossing the border to do FLM next year - I may have to do some "urban" training 1st - I have never run in a "built up area" before. The races I have done to date have all involved hills (I've only done races within 1/2hr of home)
