Okay. Despite all my protestations to the contrary, I'm still irked that I can't seem to get below 1.51.03 for a half, even though pretty much all my clubmates tell me that's a soft PB by about 5 minutes.
So what the flippety-flip am I doing wrong? Race selection springs to mind (ie I need to find a flat road course), but I don't think that's addressing the point fully. After all, my PB was set at St Albans, which isn't known for its resemblance to a pancake. So given my predilection for hillyish halves, and given that I pretty regularly do hill work, what's wrong with me?

Is it just a case of STFU and HTFU?

Thanks.

Cambridge half is very flat and the only half i've done (twice....just under !:45 my PB). The great thing at Cambridge was they had pacers so I stuck with the 1:45 pacer through the race....complete with pointing out places of interest and historical facts!!I did Blackpool marathon which also has a half in the spring and that has a reputation for producing PB's and Im doing stevenage in a couple of weeks. Hills are great for training and I always do a good tempo session once a week and I think that has helped to knock a couple of mins off my time. I'm just not sure if I can get any faster than that.

That's part of my plans for next year too - find a flattish half (probably Leeds or Sheffield) and see if I can get under 1:50:33...

Some of my clubmates achieved quite massive new PBs at the Great Eastern last Sunday - one going from 1.58 to 1.46! He trains with me, and really I guess it's just a case of if I want to improve my PB I need to find a flat half, just like Great Eastern. If I'm not bothered then I'll stick with the picturesque but undulating ones.

1.52.56 for an undulating half. I think I'm giving up gunning for PBs - the only place I'll get them is a pancake flat course profile and I'm realising I don't find those interesting in the least. I'm going to go for PGs - Personal Goods.

I've done MK half (both of them before). Windswept dual carriageways and underpasses don't really do it for me either! Fussy countryside runner I guess you could call me.
And a PG is somewhere between a PB and a PW, as long as I'm not getting worse, things are good.
