I tried to search a bit but couldn't find a thread focusing on this kind of stress fracture, hairline fracture on the top part of the leg. I did a mistake and googled my strange symptoms a few day ago, i know, you can have any odd injury or sickness if you go by Google, but, i'm usually not very paranoid, quite the opposite actually. So, what do i feel then? Radiating discomfort from top part of my Quad slightly towards the groin, and not just in the middle, where the circle is on the picture, I am kind of sore in the groin, like you have strained yourself. And it sometimes radiate slight pain from the "circle" on the quad towards the knee on the inside, like a nerve pain. I can still run, but i feel weak, leg feels stiff, and have some discomfort. And *think* i have experienced this before, and then just powered through it, but i'm not sure. i'm also good at not remembering aches and pains For instance i started the weekend 20 miler with this, and after that if was more sore of course. But i could do the run without it worsened during the run. Anyone that has any experience from this? I kinda look for the definite "if you feel this or that, it's definitely this or that" I have contacted a physician, but i have no idea when in time i might get an meeting and a MRI. |

Sounds very familiar Bowman I started to experience similar symptoms back in March whilst building distance and intensity for London. Rested and cross-trained for long periods, but pain reappeared almost immediately when resuming a conservative running schedule. To cut a long story short - torn and frayed labrum cartilage diagnosed by private MRI (x-ray showed nothing untoward). Now on a pathway to further treatment, but what has helped reduce the chronic pain and instability (i.e. that feeling of weakness on one side) are exercises to strengthen the core and surrounding hip flexors. Side planks, single leg bridges, raises & clamshells with resistance bands. Seems to be working. Now back up to a respectable weekly mileage, although the intensity has to be handled carefully because lengthening ones stride can easily cause a flare up. |

Bowman - possibly sciatica? I've had sciatica for several months, it's getting better very slowly but I still have slight radiating twinges in my right quad. Very early on the quad was sore enough to make me limp. |

It could be, as you say, many things not as serious. Tendinopthy in the adductor, iliopsoas or bursitis for example - I googled myself into thinking I had each one of those in turn. Getting an accurate diagnosis is the main thing, and also not trying to shrug it off and run through the pain, which always makes things worse. Good luck! |

I have had that or similar, but then more in the back of the "butt" region Radiating down the backside of the leg, i still get it if i sit down alot. But it says when i google that it can show it self in the front of the thigh too apparently. Well that sounded better, maybe. Its alot of things that can go wrong in this region i have noticed. |

Itβs has gotten better with βnoβ training. I have looked in to it a bit more too. Found a promising thing about if itβs a stress fracture in the femur it usually hurts when you take pressure off the leg. I have had no such symptoms when it hurt. m.youtube.com Another strange thing it resembles is my.clevelandclinic.org But not really. But there are so many things it could be. Besides just βover useβ and or inflammation or something. Knock on wood. |

Yes, there are lots of possible diagnoses for pain at that site. It's good that it's improved with vastly reduced training.
