I presume the 10+ roi is a pure financial calculation on electricity prices and doesn't factor in other externalities.

My roi is 7-10yr on my installation.

I took that and then looked at how many tonnes of co2 this saves etc as well.

To me, a pure financial calculation misses some of the other factors.

I mean we don't go round our day to day lives always looking to minimise our spend - we do buy trivial stuff for decoration, for example.

Those calculations sound right jacdaw. It's not that it won't meet your *electrical* needs, but that it isn't the right financial case that you would like, is that right? Ours might be a 10 year ROI too. But I'm OK with that for what I see as the other, non-financial benefits.

Also I think a 10yr roi isn't bad! I don't see why that's stopping anyone.

I could make comments about older generations who are worried that they not see returns, but who have the money by virtue of being born sooner, but won't spend it and their general **generational** inaction towards climate change and draw conclusions, but I won't.

Sorry, I get a little cross in that space.

(and before I'm accused of it,I'm not having a go at any one particular person - I don't know their individual circumstances. My comments are as a population scale.)

Thanks for those links. I'll have a look this evening and see how compares to the rough high level (pre survey) numbers that we have been sent

I'd love a 10y ROI! Assuming that really does cover all the foreseeable costs (maintenance?) it would be a no-brainer for me. However once you're down at 20y it's questionable.

I'm genuinely wondering if the money invested in a rooftop PV system might generate greater environmental good if invested in larger projects in more optimal sites.

Granted, I wouldn't get the virtue signalling.

No point in chucking money away Fozzy, if it ultimately isn't doing much good.

" if it ultimately isn't doing much good."

*facepalm*
