well in 2 weeks it will be all done (i hope). taper starts tomorrow. about to go out for a really hard hill session then massage, then nothing for the rest of the day. trying to form a plan for the race. want a decent time but dont want to risk not finishing. may start slow and then push on the way down to bedgelert.
wife has agreed to drive home so i can have a couple of beers after the race. that should aid the recovery a bit.

I'm resting today - did a cross country race yesterday then added seven miles of muddy hills to it - bliss

capt- don't push too much going to Beddgelert-otherwise you could end up with a most spectacular positive split!! Even more than you're bound to end up with, i mean! The hill coming out of Beddgelert isn't steep, but it is a LONG drag and has been quite a few people's undoing....
16.02 for me today in 2.11.55 (8.14 av). Easy pace, but not effort- Still suffering from last weekend's marathon! Actually managed to dip under 8min miling in the last 2m- hamstrings still stiff, but getting better. Not about speed today anyway- just a reminder to my legs that they need to keep their endurance for a couple more weeks. Taper 2 time now

I agree jasond, last year that long drag out of Beddgelert seemed to last forever

Bloody lung infection. Doxycycline. If that doesn't work, the consultant at hospital will tell me not to run. Just like what happened for what was supposed to be my first VLM this year. Also missed Trail Marathon Wales.
Fingers, toes, muscles and bronchules crossed!

BVRB..lets hope the medicine works and we see you on the startline. good luck.
thanks for the advice on the drag into beddgelert. my training has been geared for fast downhills and a trial 18 mile run today reasured me this is the best way for me to go. the last 5 mile into beddgelert is reasonably flat so back to my plodding pace for that.
hi lemmy, are you and the wife running together or will she be surging ahead.

Capt. we're running together - ahhh! We plan on a race marathon in Spring (VLM for me, VLM or Halstead depending on how Mrs Lemmy gets on in club ballots & competitions), then a destination marathon for the Autumn, so we can spend 3 hours seething at each other... :o)
I've got ITB niggle so am resting in the week (plus CORE execisings), with Valentines parkrun and Wix 5 this weekend before a 4 and 3 Tues/Thurs next week. Travel up Friday, pick up numbers and stay over the weekend in Caernarvon.
Rest up BVRB... Crossing EVERYTHING...

Cheers both.
Chest cleared up a lot but still not running - not worth risking it yet, besides, my workload this week...!!!
