Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Model Fetchies - Planes, Trains and Automobiles (and Bikes and Tanks)

I got an Airfix model kit for Christmas and decided to do a couple more. Is anyone else a keen kit model maker or scratch builder hobbyist?
Share tips and pics about models you have made.

Here's one I made earlier :-)

Alas, not me. I have a friend who spends enormous sums of money on kits - ~£100 a time! And another with a garage full of model tanks on shelves.

Nicely done, Groundhig. AS you know, just blogged about my recent 'creation', the Folland Gnat T1

I also have a spitfire that I did a number of years ago, I'll pop a picture up later.

Gordon, yes it is. The Hurricane is a very early Mk1 that flew in the Battle for France prior to Dunkirk with fabric covered wings and twin blade propeller. They got upgraded ahead of the Battle of Britain. The Spitfire is also an early version Mk1a. Here's a photo of the Spit in action ;-)

Haven't made a kit for well over 30 years, but have a number of unmade kits I've picked up over the years thinking they might be an activity I could do with my son. Sadly, he's just not interested - games consoles, Lego, Tik Tok etc rule the day!

I have that 1/24 Mk I Hurricane, the 40th anniversary Saturn V and lunar lander and a few others, plus a 1960's kit of a BMW motorcycle inherited from my wife's late father.

Did consider outing the lot on eBay late last year, but they don't seem to be worth enough to justify the hassle.

I’ve not built any models for some time. I found though that I got far more pleasure in the construction than in viewing the finished article.
The results used to get put on a shelf or bookcase and rather quickly found themselves obscured by other stuff.
