Spreadie ~ whichever way makes it easier for the RD to access and process for the thread :-)

Having run around after everyone for a few weeks I can now run again ... But, with typical timing and before I could crack on, I've incurred something unknown to my lower left leg and have limited mobility in it and weight bearing is fun at the moment.

Although it's a case of no problem at all one day and really bad the next, I still suspect shin splints at this time :-o :-( . I'm icing both legs twice a day, just in case ;-) :-) . I'll get to the surgery if I see no improvement in a day or two :-) .

Boo decorum, hope it's not shin splints, and the rest and ice do the trick.

Here's hoping it's shin splints ... I'm basically tender and swollen from just above mid shin down to my ankle and moving my foot is an exercise in exquisite tenderness. Weight bearing and stairs has been interesting too :-o

First day I've not had an ill relative to run around after ... and it coincides with when I could do with someone here to help me get stuff done [not that the cynic in me thinks that this isn't connected ;-) ]

I've got to walk a couple of miles in a while to save someone a drive ... and yes, they know I'm in pain and need to rest and ice it ;-) Got to love hills and fields :-) [same person doesn't want me to over stress it or do silly things like clear a bug on fetch point ;-) ]

Okay ... at the moment it looks like the culprit might actually be related to not running :-o :-) ...

I tend to go bare foot when possible, but wear running shoes for the obvious and a pair of good and proper boots for pretty much everything else. But being boots they restriction ankle movement and I think the issue's arisen due to the sheer volume of leisure walking in boots that I've been doing ~ and it may have caused my calf and Achilles to tighten, ping the bits under my foot and then take out my shin ... I was sort of aware that my calves were a bit tight and that I really should get in and sort them before it became a problem ... best laid plans and all that ;-)

So ... a combo of too much restriction of movement, too much repetition of the same movement, too little work on mobility and stretching and strengthening, and a generous dash of dumbassery :-)

Okay, so not shin splints then ... leg is infected, probably via bramble I failed to spot on a trail run some short time back. Am on antibiotics.

Yep, GP thinks* cellulitis ... could be worse :-)

Either way I've gone from barely able to weight bear to almost normal walking speed already :-)

(* thinks because the skin/flesh over the epicentre hasn't incurred any obvious damage but is a few inches below where I got caught a good 'un by some brambles on a run a few weeks back. The bramble grazes healed quickly and well and what with being a few weeks ago and also being a few inches away I didn't connect the dots ... oops! And although he thinks cellulitis to be the most likely culprit, I'm to keep a close eye on it :-o . )
