Think Alps, not local!

Heard that the funicular is funiked and it’ll cost too much to repair. Rumours of total mismanagement and local authority lunacy abound. Apparently part of the problem now is that the chair lift access was allowed to degenerate because the train did it all. Now there’s no provision at all.

HappyG, keep an eye on Glencoe.

They've invested in a snowfactory with the intention of opening on 1st December every year with (very) limited terrain, depending on Mother nature's support.

As supporters, we're going this weekend to the grand unveiling!

I think The Lecht also have one.

Tommy.

Thanks Tommy. Is that the big container at the bottom with snow blasting equipment? Saw it on the lifts last year. Might not make it tomorrow, but will be along soon on a weekend or midweek. Was really quiet all the times I visited (midweek) last year to Glencoe and Glenshee. Hope they have a great season this year. :-) G

I also heard that about Glencoe and the Lecht. I think they can even make snow and spread it when temperatures are in low + figures, so it doesn’t even have to be freezing like it does for the snow cannons.

I've always said I'd go to the first ski resort to have a parkrun, which seems to be a choice between Aviemore and Aspen.

If you were driving to the French Alps, either the one on the Swiss border near Geneva or Pierre en Bresse could definitely be fitted in on a Saturday morning. We did one on the way there in the summer a couple of years ago, can't quite fit it in next year with some other things going on in the journey, but would be nice to do a wintry one.

Get lift ticket, prop skis in rack, run Fort William parkrun, pick up skis, walk over to lift. There is unlikely to be any event closer to skiing!

OK I've held off long enough.

If you're heading on a board or the planks, where are you off to?...
