I wouldn't say anything's cheap as far as skiing's concerned :)G. If you go to Austria, you can do ski school which takes care of you all day and maybe make friends there for some extra-curricular activities in the evenings. Or try the usual travel companies to see if you can get a good late deal.

I knew a couple of people that booked late into a chalet and had the single-occupancy room supplement waived. A few years ago now. Might be worth a try. They were with Neillson (don’t know if they even do ski hols any more).

Good call Angus, the website looks quite promising.

I’d be interested in the answer. I’m going next week for 4 days (3 days ski plus hopefully a small bit) with girlfriends, but we only ever do a weekend as most also have family hols. I’d love to do a week but most of my friends either go with family or can’t ski.

Feels like a bit of a market gap! The "singles" specialist ski providers seem to be very expensive because they are taking advantage of the fact that you are not in a group. Cheapest thing is to be a group of 12 - 16 pals / families. But I haven't got 11-15 mates who want to go skiing in a few weeks.
Hmm, I'll keep looking. Thanks for the ideas guys. G

Happy - you could try the "Chamonix buy and sell" Facebook page. People are often advertising accomm wanted/available and you might find something that suits? It's a 'closed' page for which you have to request membership but this normally takes less than a day for you to get access to post yourself.
We've moved onto Brides-les-Bains so if you find yourself in the 3 Valleys give me a shout.
Good luck (and be careful with that calf. Sorry, couldn't help it!)

Thanks Steve. That's the sort of thing I was looking for - a ski swap shop! I'll have a look on there.
My other option is that I have pals in Norway that I used to stay with. I could just blag a place there! Accom there is cheap too 1600 for a week for 4-6, but car hire / transport from airport is a bit of a nightmare.
I thought calf might be OK in a ski boot. Part of the reason I'm considering going on a ski week is because marathon training is already stuffed. Another week off to ski won't impair the marathon! G

Quite right. I've skied happily with a dodgy calf. Fingers crossed for you.

Pulled my calf snowboarding, and swapped to skiing with no problems
Have you looked at snowheads, or J2ski they arrange trips for singles

My aunt managed to tear a calf whilst skiing - for the life of me I can't see how you can manage that when the foot / ankle is properly locked into the boot! Though there have been occasions where I've feared tearing the calf whilst extracting my foot from the boot and getting a massive cramp simultaneously!
