Is it worth watching? Seriously, I am not, forgone conclusion...I wonder if perhaps relegation is a possibility, plus a premier league type parachute payment...

Italy have only 12 Six Nations wins in 21 years which just about sums them up. Seven of those were against Scotland- and only 23 wins in their history against Tier 1 nations.
Promotion and relegation would be a good thing, and give other emerging European nations the opportunity. Romania and Georgia are both as capable as Italy. That would at least give the Italians some confidence boosting performances every other year.

Good stuff from France although they weren't really stretched. Appreciated the crowd noise having an authentic French accent!

I like to watch top athletes and a skillful display. So I would happily watch. There were some fab moments from both sides.
8 nations 2 leagues - would give Scotland and whoever they are competing with for wooden spoon a fright! G

Romania and Georgia are worse than Italy.
Rotating 6th member - a Pacific islands composite team or perhaps the USA are my longshot ideas

150 years since the first Calcutta Cup match, a nice wee bit of history as to how the first came about, from the Beeb :
"If you sat down in the easy chair on 8 December 1870 and wanted a break from the latest dispatches on the Franco-Prussian war, you might flick round to the sport's pages of your Bell’s Weekly newspaper.
There you would see a classified advert. It was taken out by five Scottish rugby clubs challenging any team “selected from the whole of England” to a match.
Blackheath Rugby Club in London answered the call.
27 March 1871 - less than four months later - at Raeburn Place in Edinburgh, the two teams - 20 a side - trotted out.
After 100 minutes of action in front of more than 4000 spectators, Scotland ran out winner and a rivalry was begun."

Italy are not up to it for sure, something needs to be done, as with cricket, to make them, or someone else competitive.
