Off we go again this weekend.

Irish commentators already slagging off Wales, Hogg talking up Scotland, Gaultier doing good cop bad cop routine with his coaches and the France team. Jones relatively quiet, have heard little from Italy although did read that Parisse may still be hanging on.

Will this be the last free to air 6 Nations?

More questions and a few answers over the next 6/7/8 weeks.

And Flood (no, who was it?) trash talking Scotland this morning (over heard / misheard radio snippet)?

Bring it on! :-) G

Good shout. Normally all over this, but this year the only fixture I'm even aware of is that England-Scotland is first up. 6N start also marks the magical point where deep winter ends and we bridge to spring and all other exciting things like the Cycling one day classics. All feels a bit like a non event, hopefully I'll get properly into it by the weekend....think I'll go and look at the fixtures to to get fired up.

The other shame is that we're normally deep into 'Lions XV' debate territory, and that does not look remotely likely to happen. If they move it here it wouldn't feel anything like the same.

How likely is travel to/from France and Italy? All good, with bubbles and isolation etc? Isn't isolation/quarantine meant to be 2 weeks to be effective? Teams couldn't do that for a one off match, could they?

so, Italy shouldn't even be in it, it should be the 5 nations, they will not win a game.
Scotland will flatter to deceive, get tonked after winning at least 3 times, second bottom
France, up and down, one good gamr, 3rd from bottom.
Wales, not as good as they would like to be, or tell everyone e;se, shame on them for it is their national sport. 3rd place.
Ireland, goo on occasion, not quite there really.
England, thicko public school boys, well trained, well drilled, will win, but not world beaters.

My thoughts:

As an England fan, I expect this championship to be ours for the taking. My chief concern is a slightly raw front row, and as we all know forward domination provides the platform to win matches.

Wales and Ireland away from home may not be such a threat for England given the lack of crowds as both teams thrive on the emotional edge their supporters give them. Wales need to win at least 3 games to keep Pivac in a job, Andy Farrell’s Ireland haven’t excited yet and haven’t got a solution for their ageing half back combination.

France are heavily tipped, have a good young squad and seemingly all working in the same direction.

Scotland always start optimistically and their front row could cause England problems on Saturday.

Italy are outstaying their welcome based on the quality of opposition they provide - the championship shouldn’t be decided by who got the most points against them.

So many exciting players to watch, but I’m keen to see what Laurent Jalibert and Cameron Redpath do for France and Scotland respectively, and I hope Paolo Odogwu gets some game time. And of course, Tom Curry, who I believe is England’s most essential player, and as a fat ex-flanker one who I believe I played a bit like.

Good summary OS! Assume Scotland 2nd from bottom actually means bottom except for Italy who you've already chucked out? Thanks! (need a wee Scotland flag against name for this thread!) I hope we can prove you wrong. All fun though! :-) G

About This Thread

OK been on walkabout but off we go on 5th Feb with Ireland v Wales.
Hopefully we will all be playing at the correct grounds and with more than a few spectators to cheer, sing, not make too much of an arse of themselves through too much of what makes them lose themselves.

Thread title has been changed so thanks for that whoever updated it.
