I've never done intervals before outside of a 15 minute solo test a year or so back. Going to the club session tonight. As it's an hour, I'm assuming overall I'll cover a decent distance that I would like to record. But as it will (I assume) be a stop/start session I don't want to annoy everyone with constant beeping of the Garmin as I start/stop it each time.
What do you guys do? Do you even record them? Is there a very simple solution and therefore this is the stupidest question ever posted on Fetch?

I press the lap button after each interval ran.
I also have a custom screen which I scroll to.
I never worry about mine or anyone else's bleeping garmin

there you create your own

I don't expect anyone at WVR will worry about you beeping.
When I did intervals there, I just started Garmin at teh beginning and stopped it when the whole session had finished. I included the rests as part of the exercise.

I never bother to set up the workout in advance - if I'm doing speedwork with the club then we start each rep when we're ready together, not when *my* watch happens to say that I've had my 90s recovery, or whatever. Similarly if I'm working solo, then I don't want to be beeped at if I'm mid-stretch. If the reps are all going to be the same length then I might change the AutoLap By Distance setting so I don't have to monitor the distance of each one (if running somewhere unusual, or not specifically between 2 known points).
I save and reset for the WU and WD as separate entries. And then when entering the 'speedwork' part I edit the time and distance here to reflect just the *running* time and distance. I leave recoveries as text in the notes, but think that makes for the most accurate record when I come to look back weeks/months/years later.

If you set Autopause on, it will stop recording when you go too slowly (you define what "too slowly" is). But it takes a couple of seconds to work out that you've stopped or started, so would not record your times and distances with perfect accuracy.

Ok, taken all the advice on here and trhen come up with my bastardised version. (so using ptb's seperate resets for WU and WD etc etc).
Going again tonight. Do people stop their Garmins when resting (so for instance a 30 second effort, then 30 second rest), or do you count the resting time as part of the exercise? If you don't, in my mind it's kind of a false speed being registered as you keep stopping, but maybe that's just me?

HB - I reckon you've just got to do whatever it takes such that the data you're using is actually meaningful to you, and you only. If you stop it between rests, then record the session as intervals, you'll know, won't you?
