Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Where as i have collected a random parcel i wasn't expecting from Coop (once it finally got dropped there being i am out during the week at work) to get my Beyond Trails hoodie i tagged onto my London Ultra entry. Was expecting to pick it up at the race so a pleasant surprise.

In hamstring news still hurts. THere was some legs on benches at work stretching etc. Some comments of can you not get your leg straight as well. Cheeky buggers. Mind you one of them had a even more bent leg than me so we are going with older you are the more bent it is ;)

Keith - you'll get some wear out of the hoodie before the race then.

Hamstrings often are slow to heal.

We have yellow warnings (again) on Sunday for wind and rain. If you have too, won't be great conditions for your 10 mile race.

Aye 60 mph gusts for that one which i am not doing. 10 miles way to far on a dubious hamstring. Albeit i'd of skipped anyway as its rather exposed.

WP - That’s a real relief re your ticker

Big G- Best of luck!

Not great for me running wise. My hip problem from the race seems to have developed into a groin problem. Had to stop my easy run on Wednesday at 45 mins due to the pain. Managed 20mins yesterday on the treadmill before I started feeling it again so will give it until Monday to try again and reassess. I can still feel it while walking today although less than yesterday which is good. Not ideal at this stage as should be getting into the meat of training but let’s see how it goes

Rcouture - did you have this injury/niggle before?

I take it your friend said your treadmill was safe? 😉

Rest day for me today.

They did get here eventually last night very late (ie, midnight) and I think had to take a taxi from Malaga!!

We had a nice day yesterday. I did do a short run in the morning and felt rubbish so I’m not doing that today :) Also had some very nice food through the day and saw some of the sights. I do feel pretty good today, but I’ve had something of a lie on rather than going for a run. Caught up with a few Trotters/partners last night for drinks and had a good night.

Big G - glad to hear the A's got there OK, albeit very late. At least they can rest up today and relax.

Good luck for tomorrow, what time do you start?

Lovely sunny morning here, saw loads of runners out on my drive to food shop. Wind and gale force winds for my run tomorrow. 🤣🤣

Gym later today.

Shades - Never had a problem like this before no. Feels like the whole area around the glute, hip and groin is inflamed with the groin becoming acute when running. Re the treadmill he kind of cleared it saying that it was just about below the weight limit for wooden joists but to check for any damage in rooms underneath after about 4-5 months.

About This Thread

Maintained by Shades
Back in December 2005 I started a thread on Runner's World offering a marathon training plan on 3 runs a week. I had my own running club at the time (Womens Running Network) and I had successfully trialled the training plan when I took a group of girls to Dublin to run their first marathon.

Over the years the thread has evolved into a chat thread, with a bit of training advice, race reports, for predominantly marathon runners.
