WP-A minute faster than last year is great.
Shades-Excellent mileage for the week.
I was out with friends yesterday so no run,but managed 10 again today, felt good despite a few beverages yesterday, long run tomorrow as I'm off so fits better.

Thanks Ian, I'm pleased with how my mileage is going.

Another 2 weeks to the end of the year so hoping to hit 50mpw by then.

Still being very strict with base training HR and having to walk/run. But being strict is what's enabled me to increase the mileage. Pace slowly improving too but a long way to go yet, but I'm happy to just be out there.

Shades-That is similar to how I am at the minute, pace is about 30-45s/m slower than I'd like, but just keep telling myself put the miles in and eventually I'll speed up.
HR has been really good the last week or so so just need to keep ploughing on.

Very odd 5 mile race today as my mile splits were more or less the same. Numbers to make a pro marathoner proud ;) Mile 4 was a few seconds slower but there was a u turn around a cone and the return was into a headwind.

Fastest 5 miles for a while and my fastest actual 5 mile race, only one being faster was a virtual one in 2020 which wasn't that much quicker.

Got something to say?

About This Thread

Maintained by Shades
Back in December 2005 I started a thread on Runner's World offering a marathon training plan on 3 runs a week. I had my own running club at the time (Womens Running Network) and I had successfully trialled the training plan when I took a group of girls to Dublin to run their first marathon.

Over the years the thread has evolved into a chat thread, with a bit of training advice, race reports, for predominantly marathon runners.
