Ian - Exciting stuff re Comrades. Can’t recall if your OH is doing it too?

Shades - Do you track your HRV as well these days? I find it more accurate in telling me if I’ll have a crap run.

6 miles before work around the Common. Heavy legged for some reason but had a nice run in perfect cool conditions.

Rcouture-No she isn't,she considered it but sensibly decided against.
I didn't want to be the guy on the website at 8am because it nor ally takes a couple of weeks to sell out,but didn't want to risk it so was there at 8.10 🤣

Rcouture - no, my Garmin doesn't have HRV. I only use my Garmin for actual run, then it's switched off. I have no real interest in further stats that are not really much help. My HR is fairly consistent when I'm training 🙃

Ian - bet you were poised at 8 a.m. though 🤣

I didn't realise the website has a entry count so I could have seen,up to 7300 now out of 23000 so plenty of time left.

Ian - I expect it fills fairly quickly, a week perhaps?.

I'm hoping I'm offered a Dublin 2025 place on Monday.

Think it's usually 2-4 weeks,a lot will be waiting until payday apparently, I sometimes forget that not everyone can just afford to pay for it,especially in Africa.
Good luck for Monday, any idea on numbers?

Ian - numbers re Dublin? I think there's an entry limit of circa 26k. But first places are offered to this year's entrants and although I was a DNS I believe that does include me. This unusual method is I think to keep Dublin with as many Irish entrants as possible as Ireland do consider this as their marathon. Will have 72 hours to accept entry then ballot will open for all entrants. They don't reveal number of places available in the ballot but it's well oversubscribed nowadays.

Nice one, Ian. Great that it’s all booked up.

Shades, fingers crossed for Dublin then.

Rcouture, are you feeling ready to build back up again then? Did you see youtuber Matt Fox (Sweat Elite) went under 2:20 again? Chicago and 4 weeks later Houston, having never done it before.

I didn’t run this morning, but in the afternoon I actually felt like I could, but opted for a 1hr ride on Zwift instead. Hoping to get out tomorrow. My local parkrun is cancelled Saturday due to another event taking place, so I need to decide if I want to go to another one, or just run from here.

Been busy looking ahead at other events for next year. Got some pencilled in, but just need to confirm a few things before booking up.

About This Thread

Maintained by Shades
Back in December 2005 I started a thread on Runner's World offering a marathon training plan on 3 runs a week. I had my own running club at the time (Womens Running Network) and I had successfully trialled the training plan when I took a group of girls to Dublin to run their first marathon.

Over the years the thread has evolved into a chat thread, with a bit of training advice, race reports, for predominantly marathon runners.
