It's not the recording that's the problem, it's the constant checking. My Garmin beeps to tell me to walk, I walk to Lamppost Corner and back, if I'm at home. It's about 400 steps, but I know that anyway.

It's a habit, not something to worry about.

It's the constant checking. And if I have a 'checkable' device strapped to my arm then check it I shall. Repeatedly.

Did you know that the loudest noise I've experienced in the last 12 months was the crowd after Dejan Kulusevski's winner against Leeds last November?

Much more importantly, do you care?

Unhealthy AW habits are like that. After every Spurs goal I'm at the stadium for I look at the volume level.

My Garmoin says 'move' exactly one hour after I last moved. I don't care, I walked 6000 steps last time I moved. I intend to run soon as well. The more problematic one, that I also ignore, is if I walk more steps, 2 days running I managed 30k+, the steps target goes a bit mental, yesterday I managed 18k, so I know I will get a graph later this week showing I missed a target.

1 I know
2 I don't care as I take 24k on average
3 most importantly my Garmin can fuck right off. But it does niggle.

The feature of daily steps recalculation can be turned off, and your target set manually.

(When I got my new watch, Connect turned off the recalculation. Unfortunately, at 12 500 steps a day.)

If I had run five miles this morning then I would still walk far enough to shut the thing up, because it is good for me to get up every hour and take a few steps.

Hummus recipe:

Proper hummus is served with a drizzle of olive oil, rather than oil being a significant ingredient in its own right. This is what should go in it:

• 1½ cups cooked chickpeas or 1 (15-ounce) canned chickpeas, drained and rinsed*
• 3 tablespoons tahini
• 3 tablespoons lemon juice
• 1 garlic clove, mashed
• ¼ teaspoon salt, or more to taste
• Approximately 2-4 tablespoons room-temperature water or aquafaba, or more if needed
• Optional garnishes: extra virgin olive oil, sumac or paprika, finely chopped parsley or other herbs, whole chickpeas

This particular recipe from thymeandtoast.com but it’s typical of the Middle Eastern way of making it.
