yes gsi events, 9 o'clock sunday morning run from musselburgh to cockenzie and back in september, probably piss down as well, how can they justify 28.50? I thought it'd be about £15.

From the turnoff into the Safari Park to the finish line beneath the castle is 7 km ie one lap plus the distance from the start in the Safari park.

So, just 1.5 laps of the centre? It wouldn't be the Stirling marathon without those underpasses! Also, being able to see runners more than once in the town was great for spectators - 1.5 laps may be a good compromise for that?

Dv, was going to leave you to answer Ally's question about Vogrie parkrun. I think the answer is: smallish field, friendly (aren't they all), scenic route, but muddy trail and with a few inclines, so wear trail shoes and don't expect to PB. But then, I haven't actually done it...! :-) G

Wouldn't bother me passing the finish line once... the 2nd time was the killer mentally as legs were already gubbed and the thought of running through the underpasses again was really tough, mainly as they knocked you out your stride. I'm already in for London but might consider it for a joggle!!

£55 is expensive, what is the price going to be when the early bird finishes?

They've brought the Stirling Marathon forward a few weeks haven't they - it's 29th April now, it was 21st May last year which was just 1 week before Edinburgh.

So they might get more people who would consider doing both big Scottish marathons, but then might lose some others who will be doing London or Manchester or other Spring marathon.

I don't think £55 is a bargain for a marathon! Ultras are better value :-P

I thought £55 sounded steep too Lesley. I was convinced they must've put the price up, but it turns out that's what I paid last year.

I'm also doing London this year, so might take Stirling as another easier-paced marathon.

Now that K5 Gus has pointed out that there's only a week between London and Stirling, I may reconsider and sit this one out!

I've signed up for Edinburgh :-O The main reason was because Stirling marathon was £55 and it made Edinburgh's £54 look for reasonable!

10 years since I did it as my first marathon in 2008, so seems apt. And 27 May is long enough after London. :-) G
