£55 is about average for Scottish marathons i would think... certainly falls into the same bracket as Edinburgh and Lochness. London obviously cheaper as it's a major and comes with heavy sponsorship etc to bring down the cost!

Thanks for the Vogrie info Happy.
Regarding Stirling, the hard hilly section at the University is gonnae be further into the race now, could be problematic for some!

You have described it well for someone who hasn't run it, :-)G ;-). Was that what I wrote a couple of months back? There's some grass, as well. I wonder if it starts frrm the right place yet?
Stirling should be cheaper next year surely, without all those buses? Although some may still be needed, especially if they increase the field. What they lose in London runners, I'd think they would gain in Edinburgh runners, about 500-1000 each way?
Also makes Alloa even better placed as a pre-marathon event: expected six weeks ahead? Maybe they could increase the field even more and buy a road closure or two?

Full price for Stirling is £65- twice the average price according to Fetch's race costs! Loch Ness is only £47 (ok not much less than £55, but quite a bit less than £65).

( and Mrs S just in case your comment was at me- my use of the word "bargain" was somewhat sarcastic :P)

Haha MN I wasn't sure if you were being sarcastic or not. I'm rather stingy with what I pay for races!

I don't mind paying quite a bit and I did pay the £55 last year but certainly don't consider it a bargain. I think it's the advertisement of the "discounted early bird" price that's still £55 that's got my back up a bit on this one!

I'm just spoiled cos London's 30 quid (was 28, 29 previous years) and super cheap. But when I add on a couple hundred quid accommodation and travel I suppose it's not so cheap! I'm actually quite excited about doing a local marathon again now. And 10 years? Sheesh! Might be my 25th marathon / ultra marathon too. G

I am like you Mrs S, I am a cheapskate ;-). I don't mind paying about £45 for a Mara but £65 just too much. Anyway I'm planning another race that's on the same weekend, just hope I get a place.
