Enjoyed Kyles 10 miles, the 2nd half much more than the first 😄 Just 200m long on my watch, which is pretty good IMO. Coming down the hill there were some lovely views over the bay. I was surprised by the numbers of walkers, must have been 100+ They set off an hour before so spent most of the 2nd half of the race passing them, lots of shouts of encouragement and they really added to the atmosphere of the event. |

Stirling 10K spectating yesterday. Saw Fergus storming in as a guide runner, in his Fetch top. Apart from that, only saw a couple of people I actually knew, and another half dozen I recognised. It's not like it used to be (not least, I suppose, as I would have been running it.). Few spectators, little atmosphere. This despite 826 starters. The winner did record a very fast time (29:16) and the announcer said it might be a new female course record (33:12). And there were some speedy youngsters. Overall though, many more at the back of the field than in pre-covid days. The weather could have been partly responsible: overcast as the start but the sun soon broke through, and fairly warm. Tbh, from my viewpoint about 100m from the finish, most runners looked pretty miserable. Maybe it was ever thus. |

The winner had a huge lead on the chasing pack when he passed us on the other side of the road somewhere between his 6th and 7th kilometre, but he seemed to be gliding along without any hint of discomfort at all! I suspect however that there were plenty of grimaces from the masses at your view point Dvorak. I was pleased to guide Gordon round to a strong PB without any trips, crashes or falls, but I did panic that I'd pushed him too hard and irreparably broken him when his legs gave way on the finish line! Luckily, it only took some water and the free empire biscuit to set him right within 5 minutes. |

Jamie just glides across the ground. Lots of folk struggled in the heat yesterday, young guy in the club was targeting 32 and took 45.

I'm sure Jamie is not long back from a hill race. Can't remember where Lou told me he was running! I always seem to be working when Stirling is on although not sure I could be bothered doing the race given I train on the route all year round. |

Great stuff FergusG and Gordon . Dvorak do you think GNR being the same day could be a factor with crowds etc? (Might not be but just thought I'd ask).

Having been lapped by Jamie (2 years running) at National XC and I am sure his feet were barely touching the mud as he glided by me (he is like a vampire the way he moves :))
