Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Hi @saintjason yes some very familiar names. I've not been on RW for a few years, but still remember the names. :-) I've been on Fetch for a look in the past but never signed in.

I'm in a period of short distance racing for a bit of summer fun. Because of this all miles in between are easy, some with just strides and explosive hills. Today I have a 5k this evening, so will just do 3 miles easy this morning. Love my runs on Friday as it's a non work day. :-)

SJ, It was far less complex than I was anticipating. It did take some messing about to identify the right files but once I did that the system took the files and to my surprise my full data was there the following morning. Sounds like you have a few options floating about re Malaga etc.

Joe, which 10k is it? I would imagine even with a few hills and warmth you should be killing that PB.

TR, enjoy the day out, if not the 10k part!

Hi, PNE, keep up the consistent work of the last 7 weeks and you'll do well.

Jules, well done on the Mona. This is a term and concept that i've never heard of until recently when you guys started talking about them. Still not 100% sure what they entail to separate them into their own category of session.

Hilly, good luck in tonight's race.

00, same with Saturday tack races. Are you not doing GNR? It's a £500 weekend for me to do it as i'll need to buy a charity place, hotel in Durham and train fare. I may give the lottery another go. I don't seem to have the same luck as Joe, having entered it twice and failed twice! Redcar is only of interest if the masters rep race is one I want to do, otherwise i'll just get my head down and prep for Chicago.

Ouch ouch, best of luck with the ultra. Hope it isn't too warm for you!

Session pending over lunchtime, could be tougher than it looks on paper with the sun out!

@wardi - yes, should get some compensation eventually from the driver's insurance (he was convicted and the insurance accepted liability). Need to get discharged from the hospital first before that gets finalised. I have bought a new bike though :)

Good luck with the race @Hilly ... hope you're prepping for our club's 1 mile race next week. I decided I may as well run it too, even though I'm only 4 weeks back.

Glad I don't have a lunchtime session today @DT19

I am currently alternating between hard turbo bike sessions and easy runs. 5 miles yesterday evening in the heat and a 30 min vO2max session on the turbo this morning. Planning a progressive run at parkrun tomorrow.

Joe - Good mona fartlek sess and good luck on the 35:XX, I'd back you for that.
TR - Nice 10m and enjoy Sundays' 10K and gardens. I think you'll go well.
SJ - Malaga's FB page said 6,000+ reg'd a few weeks ago, so dont think it will be that lonely for the marathon, I will be there. I'd scrub the 20m+, save the legs do something shorter.
PNE - Good place to start the Abingdon marathon campaign.
DT19 - Hope the session went well. Its raining here!
Hilly - Its the Siblython, a low key Cornish event, running laps of the Siblyback Lake. Cheers nfor the good wishes SJ & DT. Feel very chilled about the race, despite having more thinhs to think about (food & drinks primarily). Weather is 16C and sunny, ideal!

DrDan.. good luck with your comeback, IME it's always nice to see the times coming back down again as you return to fitness.

OO61.. great to see you chasing times as a V60. Back in 2006 one of my clubmates finished 1st V60 at London with 2.55. He's now in his late 70s and still running. I'm a youthful 66.😉

OO.. good to see that the weather looks kind for you on Sunday, hope you go well.

Likewise Hilly, have a good run tonight.

PNE.. welcome aboard and enjoy your Abingdon build up.

The good lady Jools is a FB friend so I have let her know of our whereabouts.

I'm over the worst with this cold but still a bit fuzzy headed. Also when I go for a run my legs feel like they are full of lead shot! 4m yesterday & 5m today in a bid to sweat it out, I am steadily improving though so at least I should make the wedding tomorrow.

Good to see NE made it accross

SJ - I entered a string of local races, but yes I think a bit of residual lurgy has stopped me running well. But also, in race 1 I stopped to help someone who was keeled over, in race 2 they had to change the route and ended up with a muddy length of trail through the woods on each of the 3 laps, so i lost interest. In the 3rd race I was just a bit crap.......but I don't prepare properly for these.

DT - how was your session ?

Enjoy the long long run OO

I did 4 and 4, 4th double of the week, legs were real tired so minimal distance each way.

Wardi, good work on alerting jools. Good to hear the cold symptoms are on their way out. I've been hit this week with hay-fever. More dry mouth and throat and tired eyes and general tiredness.

Tr, good work on the doubles.

Ouchouch, it was warm and sunny here which made for some effort as I've not run in warm sun in a while. Hope you've got your picnic ready for morning.

10m over lunch with 3m wu and 1m cd. 15 min at threshold came hard in sun. Averaged 5.56, then 5 min walk recovery followed by 2 x 1k at 10k planned pace so worked hard to dial into 5.45mm. They came out at 5.45 and 5.46 pace. Then 3 x 2 min at 5k effort so just aimed for 5.30s. Was pretty drenched after it.

8m in the morning before travelling will give 50m for week which is where I've been last 8 weeks so pleased to hit that without a long run. Next week will be comparatively big by virtue of Sundays 16 on Monday.

Wardi I snuck just under 2:55 at London last year when I turned 60- only good enough for 3rd M60 in my case. Not sure I'll ever get near that time again. Glad you're over the worst of the cold.
I haven't got a number yet for GNR yet DT19. My regular charity have used all their numbers. I might still get in yet though.
I'm also focusing on the short stuff hilly. Hope your 5k went well 👍

About This Thread

Hi

Fetch has said us RW refugees can relocate here. I know there are existing sub3 and 3.15 threads, but the fetch threads seem to be for more infrequent posters. The RW threads are more of a daily diary.

We'll see how it goes.

I'm a M57 hanging on to sub3. I'm unattached harriers so like a place to talk a bit of running and find some inspiration and accountability.
