The adding a circle thing to the map should be doable, just like Fetchpoint does.

Do walking cycling and swimming collect numbers too?

Right - so - things I have learned so far having been for a run yesterday and collected four digits

To see what happened, I assembled those four digits into a the largest number I could to make a guess - result is the unsurprising discovery that 8750 is too low (doubt that's much help but I suppose eliminating almost 1% of the total possible answers is a start).

It appears that once you've used your digits to make a guess, they're gone - I'll have to wait until later in the week to have enough digits available to make another guess. Think I'll wait 'til I have at least six before attempting to eliminate a bigger chunk of the pie.

You also need two 2's if you want to use 2 twice.

Exciting times. The sun has broken through the clouds, and I've got an 8 mile walk plotted that should pick up 9 or 10 digits. I look forward to lying out my arse about my guess. Or possibly telling the truth. Or somewhere in between :)

Thanks CumbriAndy I can only get two numbers today so I won't bother making a guess after.

I plotted a route and cycled 8 miles at lunchtime to collect what I could. Used 6 numbers, it's bigger than 100000. Now I'll have to go out again tomorrow to get more numbers to guess again. Seems quite hard to get anywhere near a right number without a lot of collaboration.

How about being able to have 3 to 5 guesses per day? You'd likely still need to go out on several days and keep an eye on the thread to do it.

Also, possibly resetting the number once a week and allowing more than one person to get the right answer (and the badge)?

I like the idea as it is, which is requiring heavy collaboration (although i'm guessing many will be watching without contributing to try steal it) but another way to speed it up would be to adopt another wordle mechanic, to tell you how many (of the numbers you've used) are a)not in the number at all, b) right, c) in the right place. This way you can start ignoring the numbers you know aren't involved and focus on stockpiling the valid numbers - it would speed the resolution right up if people were collaborating though, so it depends what sort of game you're wanting. As it stands, it'll probably be a slow game with a lot of help, but then big satisfaction on getting it, but only one person with the badge to show for it all

There have been 34 guesses so far, of which 25 have been four digit guesses.

I think people will need to get used to the idea of stockpiling digits for larger guesses, and I will try to put more emphasis on collaboration on the game page.

Should be straightforward to add the hit circles to all the markers - I will try to do that today.

About This Thread

Sign up, and you'll see your local map, with ten black markers - each one containing a digit. Collect these on your runs, rides, walks (and swims if you're lucky). It's GPS only, sorry. When you have enough digits, try and guess the secret number, which is anywhere between 1 and 1,000,000. If your guess is wrong, Rundle will tell you whether you are too high or too low.

All Fetchies are chasing the same number. You can choose to share your intel from your guesses - or (moral dilemma) you can try to throw everyone else off the scent.

If you're the person who guesses the right number, you get a snazzy new badge. The secret number will then reset, and the game begins again.
