Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

The FETCH Mile offers a much more economic alternative.

It's even more expensive per mile than the Heathrow Express!

It says Steve Cram brings a wealth of experience to the event.

I expect he's hoping to take an experience of wealth from the event.

To be fair, it's *only* £14 for the race itself, as the cost includes a ticket to the Run Expo (and swim/bike/tri expo) which are £10.

Still, mile for mile, it's f***ing expensive, though. I always got the impression Mr Cram was fairly well-paid in any case.

Is that the same expo they were giving out free tickets to last year? Also there is no option I see to drop the expo.

monsenb - yes, all entrants to the Manchester Marathon got free tickets to the expo last year. There's no option to drop the expo because the track is within the expo hall so you need to enter the expo to get to the race.

Yes, it's expensive, but how many times do "normal" runners get a chance to run an indoor mile? If you compare it to the 1500m at the Northern Athletics Indoor Champs (for example), which is £8 per event, and factor in the Nike tech t-shirt and goody bag, then I wouldn't necessarily say £14 for the race is exorbitant (if you were considering the Run Expo anyway).

I used to be a normal runner, and I'm not that hung up on running a mile indoors.

It's not a proper indoor track which kills it as an event for me.
