Oh wait isn’t there something about a forward pass not being counted as forward if the receiving player is behind the passer? That was the case. The pass was backward relative to the running players. I know this is nonsense but it seems to be how the rule is interpreted.

Forward out of the hand is illegal as per the law though if backward out of the hand but travels forward that’s ok - not really a massive fan of that law myself.
