The first Heineken cup weekend begins on Friday. Must admit I’m not keen on the new pool stage format. That said the old format wasn’t great either.
There’s a game on Channel 4 on Saturday for those with no BT.

I may well watch it, I'm certainly not going to enrich btsport to inflict further pain upon myself.

Missed the earlier games and last nights. Shame a weakened Cardiff were so outgunned against Toulouse. Hard to judge how good Toulouse are, they’re probably amongst the favourites to win.
Watching a cracking end to Bordeaux - Leicester. I don’t follow the top 14, but I know Bordeaux have reached the QF or maybe SF in recent seasons.
George Ford pulling the strings in the last 20 minutes with some great tactical and territory based kicking and the Leicester pack were winning penalties in the Bordeaux half for him to kick the pens. A win away in France is very impressive for the Tigers.

Another away win in France by an unfancied Ulster beating Clermont, perennial bridesmaids in this tournament, at the Marcel Michelin, excellent performances by Cooney and their 2 centres. Felt the Ulster Full back looked lively too.

An enjoyable weekend of European rugby I thought.
Only 3 French teams won - Toulouse and La Rochelle - last years finalists, and the rockstars of Racing 92. Good to see Leicester, Quins and Ulster getting wins in France which are traditionally hard to achieve.

Bath bringing in the Munster coach, van Graan next year.
Could see the prodigal son m of Ronan O’Gara returning to Munster, or else my pet theory - Razor Robertson from the Crusaders to get some Northern hemisphere experience ahead of the All Blacks job.

Just glad that anyone other than a broken down old lock with a very one dimensional view will be deciding what to do.
But I suspect he'll just get trampled by the owner like every decent coach before him.
Genge, is he resigning for Bristol ? Or maybe ....
