Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

In retrospect it was a bit of an epic trip to the Dolomites.

Thanks for the comments. These things are not without risk. My SO (pictured) thinks this trip was when her knee cartilege started going, which later got a lot worse doing a half in the autumn of that year (2018). At that point she had been working in the Netherlands (flat) for nine months.

Also on that trip I mentioned to our guide that I turned out to have broken my kneecap when she took us round Mont Blanc three years earlier. Months after, when in the process of diagnosis for osteoporosis, an x-ray had shown that it had indeed had been broken then. Part-way round the Dolomites trip pictured, I mentioned this story, and the diagnosis, to our guide Julia. She was a bit put out that I hadn't mentioned it (for insurance reasons, at least) 🤗

Blimey Steve NR, an epic in several senses and maybe not the happiest running memory, despite being a great pic. Hope your SO has made a recovery and is running still?

Cheers - it was quite easy to follow (but I had pre-loaded a gpx route onto my phone and garmin). Pretty well marked though too.
