Team flinky checking in!

We had a race of two halves. The first half was great and we reached halfway in about 9:15 feeling comfortable and good :-) And then flanker's knee gave up in a bad way and he was reduced to a 25 minute mile hobble :-( I decided to stick with him rather than run my own race, and we eventually completed the second half in 16 hours for a finish time of about 26:10. We made the final CP cut off and Barbury castle but missed the finish cut off by a few minutes and didn't even get a medal for all that effort :-(

Lizological passed us about a mile from the finish, still jogging and so she should've made the finish in time :-)

Blimey you poor things, the terrain of that last bit is shocking with a knee injury !! What a nightmare !!! Huge effort for sticking it out & finishing :)

We even got escorted in by the medical team because word got ahead that flanker was struggling, so the St John guys met us on the corner by the pub to walk the last bit with us. We were the only finishers to not get a medal, which seems a bit harsh, but never mind.

Well done everyone. Good on you team Flinky for finishing - great mental and physical training, annoying that you didn't get the medal for it. I wonder if they feel they have to be very strict as it's the UK Trail Running Champs?

(I was only 5th, but I was running with Helen who hadn't done the distance before and she won vet 40 lady. Maybe I could pursue a career change into pacing for ultra runners...)

Anna, whats the story with the trail running champs?? Do you have to enter it seperately or are you automatically put into it? Quite fancy a crack at it next year.
