Absolutely! I don't give many gifts these days - hubby and I buy things for each other when we think of them!! We don't get many large enough leaflets dropped through our letterbox.

In regard to party tablewear, I have just seen this on Facebook from the local sustainability group in West Sussex - there must be other companies doted around the UK. Reminds me of my 18th birthday party many moons ago when plates and glasses were ordered. "Heavy duty plastic tableware can last many years (I have some at home that is over 20 years old and still going strong). Which is why I love the idea of The PackaPartyProject. We've probably all resorted to paper plates at some point - either to cope with large numbers, or in situations where breakages are likely. Some paper plates and bowls are coated in plastic, and whether they are or not, they're all single use. So do take a look at this local initiative to cut down single use party ware. #sustainableliving" facebook.com facebook.com |

Round up of how to make would be gifters aware about single-use plastic: 1. Put up a sign or put on social media that the Basel Convention says that plastic is now treated as a toxic substance. 2. Put up a sign indicating what types of chocolate you would accept 3. Provide gifts to others in re-used paper / newspaper or crap wrap or don't wrap 4. Write a list and publish it on Social Media about the types of presents you would love to accept |

Thanks WW. Also other news - SarahWoo had mentioned Sainsbury no longer delivering fruit and veg in plastic bags....Other supermarkets delivering groceries without plastic bags and using reusable boxes are Asda & Waitrose. Tesco will be delivering without plastic bags from August. Here is a Which report. which.co.uk |

I use parker with metal refills that I recycle. I'm organising a conference at work and I'm banning handing out of branded pens. People's faces when I tell them that almost every pen they've ever use still exists. I've got highlighters with cardboard body with the plastic parts made from recycled plastic. Not ideal but better than nothing. |

Hey 1s2F - I see biro cases quite commonly when have done beach cleanups. Would pencils / colouring pencils work with sharpeners? Or make notes available as a PDF so that folk can use the PDF commentary menu to highlight and comment notes on their tablets, phones, laptops? |
