I buy bamboo toothbrushes most, but not all of the time... depends when I see them, and how much they are. I use soap that I made, I use a shampoo bar and a conditioner bar. My face moisturiser is an oil combo that I made up. I am still using up body moisturiser that I have in plastic, but have trialled some solid moisturiser (that I also made) that's been quite good. On the whole, my bathroom is pretty good, bar the razor blades and my toothpaste. Oh and the loo paper is Green Cane, which is a similar option to Who Gives a Crap, except every roll isn't swathed in more unnecessary paper.

I have very few toiletries - shampoo bar, shower bar, soap bar for hands, cardboard case deodorant, mooncup. Lip balm in a tin. Solid insect repellent (quite important for me, see latest blog!)

Razor with disposable head that I got in a race goody bag but that will need replacing soon (admittedly I don't shave much, usually armpits only, so this razor has lasted a year or so).
Hair oil stuff from Lush - still looking for reasonable priced stuff without plastic.

Plastic bottles of sunscreen. Not sure what to do about this. Plastic toothpaste tube. Plastic toothbrush heads for electric toothbrush. Not sure what to do about these either.
Sadly the rest of the household are not interested. Reams of plastic bottles and tubes and pouches :(

Ah yes, I also have cup - Diva cup here. And I use a salt block deodorant, which does come in plastic, but one block lasts about two years...way better than normal deo, but not perfect.

I've just started using Pitt balm deodorant which comes in a tin and have found it very effective. Shampoo I have bought in bulk and then decanted into smaller bottles which we re-use, but I will look at alternatives as we're running to the end of our current supply. I tend to get skin reactions, so have to be careful with ingredients and I've not had good experiences with soap bars in the past.
I have an electric toothbrush which I really like and bamboo ones for travel. I have thought about ditching the electric toothbrush when I run out of replacement heads, but that seems pretty wasteful.
I've also seen toothpaste tabs which seem like a good idea once current tubes are used up.

I go to a beautician to be waxed once every 6 weeks. Because I've been going for years it means my hair has got so it grows back quite fine so 6 weeks is fine. She uses what looks like a lint cloth which is thrown away but I'll have to actually ask her what it is made of.
Like Winelegs I make my own soap and use solid shampoo and conditioner bars.
I use an electric toothbrush and change just the heads. I need to research alternatives or just buy a manual bamboo one.
I use a home made face and body moisturiser. The body one has citronella essential oil in it to double up as an insect repellent. Works OK for me. I get only bitten when I get out of the lake after swimming when it's washed off.

Don't need a mooncup any more.

How about converting your toilet so it has a bidet and thus reduce the use of toilet paper?

Hopefully no one here uses wet wipes and dumps them down the toilet as many reports show they block the drains (most wet wipes have nylon fibres which is a plastic).

Day 4: All About the Mouth.
What have folk done to reduce plastic tubes of toothpaste, and plastic bottles of mouthwash?

Day 5: Can those who make their own products let us know ingredients and where we can source them. Think some of you have created blog posts. Please link to here

I've thrown this together on shampoo options: fetcheveryone.com/blog/34542/2019/7#blog395232

On the wet wipes topic, I haven't used one in at least a year, perhaps longer... we have piles of washable wipes (effectively little wash cloths) - white ones for bums, and coloured ones for hands and faces. They're brilliant. We use them over and over and over. We've even basically stopped using paper towels in the kitchen, except for draining fried / greasy things.

What kind of things would you like to make run free? I will blog where I can on those topics.

Where toothpaste is concerned, if an acceptable formulation starts to be sold in non-plastic packaging without too high a price premium in a place where it's practical for me to buy it, I'll consider it. Until then it's not in my list of priorities. I'm not in favour of the use of proprietary mouthwashes outwith short term use in certain medical/dental situations for reasons other than plastic control.

Thank you WL - the post you threw together is excellent.

I'd love to make my own lotion bar. Have eczema which is a bit awful at the mo - but want to try it anyway as have so many plastic bottles of cream.
