I have both silicone and glass straws. The glass ones are wide and good for smoothies. The silicone ones are good for ginonatrain. However, nothing matches the plastic bendy straw for drinking water in bed. I developed the technique when I had a cracked rib and it hurt so much to sit up, so I used bendy straws so I could drink lying down. The silicone ones are kind of bendy, but not quite so.

I'll be interested to hear how you find it HP. I use a potassium alum salt deo stone at the moment, which works brilliantly, but does have a plastic casing.

Well so far so good. I used it this morning. I’ve been for a brisk walk in the sun and been climbing. Was sweaty during both but a quick armpit sniff and I am odour free. I don’t particularly like the feeling of sweaty pits but if I don’t smell then I can get used to the feeling.

Would ordinary Himalyan salt work the same do you think? I'm guessing the salt has been compressed in to that shape to make it more robust and easier to handle/apply.

(Microbiologists foot note, I wonder what halophiles smell of...)

No idea. I’d guess this is a convenient way of applying and the thing is supposed to last for ages (presumably because it’s compacted). I have to say it stung like a b*stard this morning. I might need to stop shaving my pits as the 2 might not be compatible.
