I loved it. It did borrow a fair bit of plot from New Hope, but I think that was just to get us feeling warm and fuzzy. Hans dying was obvious so not a shock. But even though it was predictable it was still good. I can't decide if I want Rey to be Luke's daughter or not related at all. It does seem to be one family stuffing up that whole galaxy. The again, how could Rey be that quick to pick up the force if she wasn't related to the "child of Midichlorians"

No, I've never loved 3PO. And apparently the actor who plays him is a dick too.

That and some other things haven't been explained. Will we get flashbacks? Or a episode VI.5?

Loved it too, and I speak as someone who lost all interest past episode 3 (the third film ever made, not ep3 in some re-imagined order). Was great also to get the kids (at least one of them anyway) into it and spark their interest in seeing the first ever one made, to give them some context. Not sure if I can maintain interest for five more at the rate of one a year, though, even if they are directed by hip and happening people.

I read that they wanted the droids to show the passage of time in the same way that the original cast had, so they gave Threepio a red arm and R2D2 became a depressed droid - probably to make him more interesting than a beepy-boopy pedal bin.

Especially as they now have a beepy-boopy beachball

What a great film! The Han Solo death was a big shock as it was a very well acted scene. I thought Chewbacca saying he/she was cold was very funny too.
A properly evil bad guy is how dark Star Wars should be.

I've read that that one's going to be explained in a C3PO comic - something about him and another droid, and the other one sacrifices himself nobly. The red arm is off the other droid.
C3PO is silly comic relief who's only useful when they actually need something translated, but JarJar is way worse IMO - borderline racist stereotype, and does far too many useful things for a complete idiot who ends up handing over the keys to the Republic to the Emperor.
