Oo that’ll be a good source of plunder well done Hells Bells My rule is I have to like or be interested in the book enough to be glad I’ve read / reread it The reread rule was supposed to make life easier but actually I’ve strongly disliked some of the rereads So it may take me a while yet

Very well done HB! I've let my list fall by the wayside but then, my list is a decade or two longer than most

If you think Fever Pitch is about football you have missed the point.

Really enjoyed Zadie Smith’s White Teeth, my 2000 pick, one of those books of the modern canon I probably should have read years ago but never got around to.

I’m abandoning 2010 the Prague Cemetery which is Umberto Eco writing as the fictional driver behind the seminal piece of antisemitism which is the Protocols of the Elders of Zion. I got to page 60 and I know more than I did. It should be a distressing read and it is, from a man who grew up in a fascist country and pulls no punches. I will think on whether I can bear to read it later or whether it will just overwhelm me and stop me reading
