Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

You can really confuse spectators by running in a tshirt from a different event when they think that the race name is actually *your* name. "Come on, er...G24???"

Daz Love
Only ever had mine on for London Marathon and although it was nice for the first 2-3 miles, I found it a bit much, with constant calling of "Come on Daz", I actually siad through the Blackwall Tunnell, nice to finally have some peace to people near me "Nobody replied!" Then I hit the wall and really struggled the last 2-3 miles, that was even worse "You can do it Daz" "Its a running race not a walking race Daz" :) :)

Personally I think marshalls should wear bibs with their names on so I don't have to keep on shouting "Thanks Marshal".

I quite like names on bibs as an option, though I do spend most of my time wondering whether I'm being hunted down by another "Matt" as the shouts often seem to come after I've passed the spectators!

Teenage Cancer Trust are sending us iron-on letters for our vests apparently - I quite like getting personal shouts, but can foresee that if I was having a 'mare of a time in the last 6 miles that I might prefer to remain anonymous!

It's great. Just a boost every time, imho.

Though best shout I ever had was "Keep smiling. Grinners are winners." Made me smile and forget my pain for half a mile! :-) G

My family have an ironic shout of "Run faster" as a traditional shout out to those we know (including ourselves as it were) tracing back to one of my kids friends shouting that at my son to an very unimpressed look back!

I feel this is an appropriate place to repost this picture.

I have to point out that this wasn’t my race number.

I have my real name on my Fetch vest as I hate people shouting 'Come on Fetch' at me during races. There's only one Fetch in this world (his Lordship), and it ain't me.
