Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

We had "Gran" and "Granda" on our Macmillan shirts at Loch Ness Marathon. Our first marathon and first race as grandparents :) It fairly amused the spectators and got us lots of encouragement.

I loved having my name on my tshirt, but it does make you over emotional in the last few miles of a marathon.....

and yeah, you do feel like a plonker when you wear said shirt on a normal running night (having packed your bag the day before and not realised!)

There is at least one occasion, running with my name on, that it's been going so badly that I've stopped, unpinned my number and moved it up a few inches to cover my name. Sometimes you just want to escape.

Usually I love it, though.

I have to say the crowds cheering me by name last Sunday really helped, not sure I would have got through the tougher bits without it, and I am smiling on all my photos (having only actually spotted one camera).

I quite like it when the bibs have names on, but I always seem to be running with at least one other "Matt" (who invariably has more supporters on the route than me) so it can get annoying too!

I wish marshals had names on so I could shout "thank you XYZ" instead of just "thank you marshal" all the time.

I forget which race it was, but on a recent trail event each marshal had a sign with their name on on the same pole as the direction arrows. All printed up the same way by RunningImp as far as I could tell. The marshals had no way of going incognito.
