Vollering done it seems, exactly why having two with AVV made sense.
Diegnan and Schweinberger about to be caught by Ruesser and Kopecky to make it four chasing the win.

Kopecky masterful. Vollering getting silver with sprint to catch Uttrup Ludwig on the line.

Great race. Strongest rider won. She's been great all year. Well done Demi for sprinting for second despite the cramp. Glad Ludwig got something, cos she's great and she's always value for money in her interviews, and a great race for Lizzie.

Really enjoyed watching the Trials finals. Some serious skill there (though doubt they strictly fit the bill here, as I doubt they are pro?) especially in the rainy conditions they had. Most of the moves simply look physically impossible!
Memories of KickStart came flooding back!!
Thought the champs overall were a great success, though concerns about "legacy". According to my eldest, the XC course at Glentress will be removed post-event which he was disappointed with as he wanted to ride some of the features there to see how tough they were.
(He built his whole summer holiday around the World Champs, cycling from Newcastle to Glasgow for the men's RR, then doing about a 400 mile loop into the Highlands solo bike-packing before getting back to Glentress in time for the XC, then back down to the Toon. Seriously impressed at his commitment!)

That is commitment indeed!
I was at a wedding yesterday, the bride and groom met at a cycle club so there were plenty of cyclists. However one woman was there alone because her husband and family preferred to watch the UCI! I thought she meant they were in Glasgow but no, they were watching at home. I believe her daughter competes but I was still surprised at the life choices 😂

Larkim: I guess part of the difficulty may be that (from observing signage on the ground and a recollection from riding there before) the champs course broke up bits of existing trails. I'm not sure what's going from the course, but can understand not wanting to sacrifice popular blue and red trails for a trail very few will use. I guess things would be different if they weren't trying to build a course into an already successful trail centre.

Yes, that was the impression I got. Ive not been to glentress but most trails centres revolve around getting riders up high quickly for a longish net descent. Whereas the XC course was a much smaller loop towards the lower end of the trails.
