“From the time I came in, we started going out and getting the best people because I said, ‘It’s not appropriate, what they’re doing. I think it’s a tremendous mistake,’” he said. “You know, they like to do things and they like to take them too far, and this is sometimes what ends up happening. Now, with that, I’m not blaming the controller, I’m saying there are things that you could question, like the height of the helicopter, the height of the plane, being at the same level and going in opposite directions. It’s not a positive.” I bet you didn't cover that, you with all your woke DEI "science" and "safety standards". |

Yep, I was loosely aware that there was some history of aviation safety in your background. And I also recognise that when an individual incident of error happens it can be too narrow minded to simply say "XYZ error was made, that is the cause of the incident" because whilst that might be true, good processes and systems should be in place to migitate (some) human errors from becoming a problem. So if overall air safety has reduced either generally or in specific locations, it's right to point to that as a contributory cause, even if in the moment it does turn out that the heli pilot made mistakes which directly caused the accident; in an ideal world her/his mistakes would have been unable to have contributed to anyone else getting hurt because the safety systems would have prevented the scenario from occurring. |

Yeah - in air crashes, it's as good as never as one incident. It is multiple incidents piling on top of each other, when there's one incident it's almost inevitably absorbed by the safety systems in place. It will be a cascade of incidents, and yes I bet pilot error will be involved. Normally people would say "we don't know what happened and won't until a full investigation can be concluded". Sadly these are not normal times and that kind of statement can be weaponised against you (see also grooming gangs etc etc). It is simplism of the worst kind, but we can say with some confidence freezing the number of air traffic controllers and firing the heading of the safety will in no way have helped this already bad situation, and at level best had no affect on it. |

President Trump has taken to his own social media platform, Truth Social, to claim that the Black Hawk helicopter involved in Wednesday's deadly crash was "flying too high, by a lot". So nothing to do with the FAA's diversity programme then. Is he having a go at the military now? That should work out well for him. |

Who needs to wait for a full investigation when you're commander in chief.

He really doesn't like the army does he? Whether it's calling vets "losers" and "suckers": theatlantic.com (he disputes this but there are multiple - albeit anonymous - sources) Or not wanting disabled vets in a parade: “Look, I don’t want any wounded guys in the parade,” Trump reportedly requested. “This doesn’t look good for me.” independent.co.uk Or his staff verbally abusing arlington cemetery staff who tried to enforce the no photographs rule: npr.org When I mentioned this to a Trumper I knew, he just refused to believe it. Media just "make things up". |

Can't recall "war with Canada" being part of Trump's election campaign.

TBF it's more of a trade war. If it was an actual war i could see Mexico piling on to see if they could get California back. |
