The much more plausible narrative is that issues existed before Trump was in and the accident just happened now. The one person in position thing isn't something that's specifically down to the Trump administration.

It is a case of liking or disliking Trump if the only narratives are Trump's BS or an anti Trump narrative.

But which do you consider more plausible Chris (and I recognise I'm slightly playing devils advocate here)?

You've posted content which suggests the narrative that you believe is that ATC is underfunded / underrecruited and that that is what has directly (or indirectly) caused the crash.

But to me a more plausible explanation would be a direct error on behalf of either the passenger pilot or the military pilot; with the military pilot being the more likely to me given the manoeuvrability of a Black Hawk heli vs a passenger jet.

(I'm not discounting that ATC resourcing may have contributed to it in some way too but the primary cause feels to me in plain sight)

Here's a piece in the Guardian that corroborates or goes through some of the stuff Chris posted.

theguardian.com

It doesn't take long to find conspiracy / wild theories, and I'm sure the above chapter will just add to them. And Trump doesn't help with his gun-ho attitude rather than waiting for expert opinion, not that I ever expect him to listen to any experts.

My beef with Trump over this is his absolute lack of class & lack of respect, the sun wasn't even up before he was being a c word.

That has nothing to do with blame or the underlying reasons it's just a constant.

Trump will be Trump.

He's the person who says something worthy then says "but" and the rest is verbal diarrhoea. He's not statesman.

NYT reporting, as alluded to by Chris earlier.
Details about the UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter’s final location indicated that it was not on its approved route and flying higher above the ground as it traversed the busy airspace just outside the nation’s capital, according to four people briefed on the matter but not authorized to speak publicly.

The internal F.A.A. report, which was reviewed by The New York Times, said the controller who was handling helicopters in the airport’s vicinity on Wednesday night was also instructing planes that were landing and departing from its runways — jobs typically assigned to two different controllers. A supervisor combined those duties sometime before 9:30 p.m. and allowed one controller to leave, according to a person briefed on the staffing, who was not authorized to speak publicly.

On the non-specifics, it was Trumps utter lack of humanity in furthering his own agenda by making unfounded extrapolations from their deaths that sparked my interest, rather than trying to actually examine what happened.

Of course, in the other darker corners of the conspiracy theory world there are questions being asked about "who was on the heli" or "who was on the plane"... Those nutters won't give two hoots about Trumps lack of human dignity.

It’s not likely that Trump’s actions since taking power can have materially contributed to the crash but it’s certainly possible that his behaviour will do so in future.

The pilots have already pointed out that they there is a lot of new recruits and inexperienced pilots out there and they rely on air traffic controllers to keep them safe. (and who historically would have kept them safe). Also a second point is that the air space around Ronald Reagan airport is much more congested now than it was ever designed to be.

I've already pointed out this has been a historic problem where republican congresses have voted to defund the FAA:

From 2019:

From 2023:

apnews.com

This is all on a continuum, this needs to be put out there to counter Trump's narrative. It's simply transactional. It's how Trump works, it's how you counter it.

He would do certainly do everyone a favour by simply promising to investigate it thoroughly and fix it instead of tilting at DEI windmills, as is his wont.

Another 4 years of this exhausting crap. What it must be like to be in America right now.

Disclosure: my university group thesis was on safety critical systems - with a particular referencing of software aviation systems, but we paid particular attention to how things like budgeting also affected the efficacy of the software, and other external factors such as pilot error, air traffic controller error etc etc.
