2 + 2 may well equal 5. Apparently the special guest at Starmer's speech could just be Keir Starmer. |

It'll be all the terrorists the mail say he begged to defend or Jimmy Saville that the same paper tell you he personally failed to prosecute

Millions of litres of raw sewage were illegally pumped into one of England's most famous lakes after a fault, the BBC can reveal. United Utilities failed to stop the illegal pollution of Windermere, in the Lake District, for 10 hours in February and did not report the incident to the Environment Agency until 13 hours after it started. I don’t know whether to be saddened or outraged… |

On that score, I noticed the other day the River Nidd at Knaresborough was one of several new awarded bathing sites. Last year, it was essentially polluted with more sewage dumps than there were hours in the entire year. I wonder if the other sites (I think there were about 30) were similar. And that's the good (!) river water apparently. |

There doesn't actually appear to be a connection between the creation of a new bathing site and the quality of the water - i.e., it doesn't seem to be like a Blue Flag thing. Makes one wonder what the point is.

I see. I noticed last year, Feargal Sharkey advised Alastair Campbell, it wasn't safe to swim in the new designated clean water in the Wharfe near Ilkley. |

I get the impression that these new OWS sites will simply be priority sites for the regulator to collude with water companies to cover up pollution
